Cedar Mill Childcare is a new facility opening September 2012 in Lynn Valley North Vancouver.

Cedar Mill Childcare Philosophy

Cedar Mill childcare believes that each child is an unique individual and will develop at his/her own pace.
Children learn by exploring the world around them. As educators it is our job to foster authentic learning based on their interest that will support their physical, emotional, cognitive and social development.
Cedar Mill Childcare believes that all children deserve the right to enriching childcare regardless of their ethnic background, physical or mental progress, religious preference and family situations.
Cedar Mill Childcare believes that parents are the most important people in a child's life. We respect and act on parents concerns, desires and hope for their child.

Cedar Mill Childcare Guidance Policy
We believe in allowing children to problem solve by themselves with close adult supervision and assistance when needed. An example would be a child wanting a toy that another child is already using. The caregiver may say "I see Oliver you want the ball. Morgan is using it. Let's go find a ball for you."
Other positive guidance methods used are:
- Positive language
- Hand over hand ( stroking a child's hand to show a gentle touch)
- Empathy ( showing how another child feels when they are hit)
- Re -Directing (moving a child to another area).
- Reminding children of limits ("Let's go outside and run.")
